AVLT Board Members
Karen has been active in the community since 1971. She is a past President of AVLT and currently serves as Treasurer. She is a founding board member of Anderson Valley Arts, and a former member of the Anderson Valley Chamber of Commerce. Karen owned and operated Rookie-to Gallery in Boonville before retiring in 2015.
Barbara is a founding member of AVLT and has been a resident of the valley since 1978. She has served on the board of directors of the Anderson Valley Community Services District, established the community’s adult school, and has advanced sustainable agriculture on a countywide basis.
Dave is an experienced business attorney who has resided in Anderson Valley since 2004. He joined the AVLT Board in 2008 and served as Board President from 2014-2016.
Nancy recently retired from the National Park Service as the planning manager at Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA), ending a career in planning and environmental review dedicated to helping shape the GGNRA as a new national park. Her work involved planning and community involvement in a wide range of projects, from master plans to site plans, restoration, trails. Nancy joined the Board in 2016. She and her husband John spend their time between San Francisco and Anderson Valley.
Glynnis has worked as a planner for non-profit organizations, government agencies and businesses focusing on agriculture, rural community development and environmental issues. She retired to Boonville in 2002 and is currently an active volunteer with the Anderson Valley Elder Home, Anderson Valley Arts and served on the board of directors of a publicly-owned company. Glynnis joined the AVLT Board in 2012.
Patrick is a licensed Landscape Architect who has planned and designed numerous park, recreation, and open space areas and trails throughout the western U.S. In 2011, he was elected by the American Society of Landscape Architects to its Council of Fellows, among the highest professional honors a landscape architect may receive. Patrick joined the Board in 2004 after volunteering for AVLT for 9 years. He assumed the role of Board President at the beginning of 2017.
Rachel Turner Williams
As a member of the sixth generation of her family to be raised on the Mendocino Coast, Rachel has always had a deep connection to this area that led her to pursue an education in the environmental field. After spending many years away, working for the US Environmental Protection Agency in the Bay Area, and starting a family and business with her husband in Santa Rosa, she is now happy to be back in Mendocino County as a resident of Anderson Valley. In addition to continuing to co-manage the family’s small engineering firm, Rachel helps to promote and support local, sustainable food through her work with the Anderson Valley Foodshed. Rachel joined the AVLT Board in 2018.
Steve has lived Anderson Valley since 1971 and currently serves as Vice-President of our Board. He moved here originally to work with special needs children as part of his alternate service during the Vietnam War. He has a lifelong interest in design, landscape, agriculture and community life. Steve has been an active volunteer with the Anderson Valley Elder Home Project since its inception. He is a licensed architect and now manages a small and varied design practice in Boonville.
